Myrrh Resin — Commiphora
Dark red-brown Commiphora tears. Bitter, smoky, heavier than frankincense. Burned on charcoal.
Myrrh is the hardened sap of Commiphora, collected the same way frankincense is but yielding a darker and harder tear, red-brown rather than pale, and a smoke that is noticeably heavier and more bitter. It is the second of the two resins carried into the Christian nativity account, and it remains in use in church censers, in Coptic and Orthodox liturgy, and in Arabian home burning. Sorted by hand, not milled. Supplied in a lidded glass jar. Burn a small piece at a time on charcoal in a ventilated room. Not for eating.
Apply a small amount to the pulse points — wrist, neck or behind the ear. Attars are undiluted, so one pass of the roll-on is enough; the scent opens over the first twenty minutes and settles close to the skin. For burners and incense, use in a ventilated room on a heatproof surface and never leave anything lit unattended.
External use only. Not a medicine.
Materials
Commiphora myrrha resin tears. Glass jar, metal lid, paper label.
Care
Keep sealed and cool. Myrrh darkens with age, which is normal and does not affect how it burns.
