Frankincense Resin — Boswellia
Hand-sorted Boswellia tears from Dhofar. Pale, brittle, graded by size. Burned on charcoal.
Tapped from Boswellia trees on the Dhofar escarpment, where the bark is scored and the sap left to harden on the trunk into tears before it is collected by hand. What arrives is sorted by size and colour rather than milled, so the jar holds whole pieces from pea-sized up. Frankincense has been burned on charcoal in temples, churches and homes across the Arabian peninsula and the Mediterranean for several thousand years, and the method has not changed: one or two tears on a lit disc, in a burner, in a ventilated room. Supplied in a lidded glass jar. Not for eating.
Apply a small amount to the pulse points — wrist, neck or behind the ear. Attars are undiluted, so one pass of the roll-on is enough; the scent opens over the first twenty minutes and settles close to the skin. For burners and incense, use in a ventilated room on a heatproof surface and never leave anything lit unattended.
External use only. Not a medicine.
Materials
Boswellia sacra resin tears. Glass jar, metal lid, paper label.
Care
Keep the jar closed and out of sun. Resin softens and clumps in heat; a spell in the fridge makes it brittle again.
