Tulsi Wood Mala — 108 Bead
Holy basil wood turned into 108 beads and knotted on cotton. Pale, light, warms with use.
80 in stock
Turned from the seasoned stem wood of Ocimum tenuiflorum, the tulsi plant, which is grown and tended in household courtyards across northern India and is central to Vaishnava practice in particular. The wood is pale, very light in the hand, and it darkens and takes a shine with years of use in a way none of the harder bead materials do. One hundred and eight beads and a meru, knotted onto waxed cotton. Beads are turned from stems taken at the end of the plant cycle rather than from cut live growth. Supplied in a cotton pouch.
Apply a small amount to the pulse points — wrist, neck or behind the ear. Attars are undiluted, so one pass of the roll-on is enough; the scent opens over the first twenty minutes and settles close to the skin. For burners and incense, use in a ventilated room on a heatproof surface and never leave anything lit unattended.
External use only. Not a medicine.
Materials
Ocimum tenuiflorum stem wood, waxed cotton thread. Cotton pouch, card box.
Care
Keep dry. Tulsi is soft wood and will dent if dropped on stone. No oil is needed; skin does the work.
