Bodhi Seed Mala — 108 Bead
Pale bodhi seeds with natural pitting, knotted on cotton. Darkens to honey with years of use.
45 in stock
One hundred and eight bodhi seeds, pale and finely pitted, gathered and drilled near Bodh Gaya. Bodhi seed is the traditional material for Buddhist counting practice and it has a property none of the other materials share: it takes colour from the hand, and a mala worked daily will go from bone-pale to deep honey over a decade or so. Knotted onto waxed cotton with a meru at the join. Because the seeds are natural, size and pitting vary bead to bead and are matched by eye rather than machine-graded. Supplied in a cotton pouch.
Apply a small amount to the pulse points — wrist, neck or behind the ear. Attars are undiluted, so one pass of the roll-on is enough; the scent opens over the first twenty minutes and settles close to the skin. For burners and incense, use in a ventilated room on a heatproof surface and never leave anything lit unattended.
External use only. Not a medicine.
Materials
Bodhi seeds, waxed cotton thread. Cotton pouch, card box.
Care
Keep dry and handle often. Do not oil; hand contact is what darkens the seed, and oil blotches it.
